Civic Results Housing Series
Civic Results, in partnership with the Denver Regional Council of Governments (DRCOG), Colorado Housing and Finance Authority (CHFA), and Common Sense Institute is hosting a six-session housing series. The series will bring local leaders and housing partners together to dig deeper into the challenges, explore practical solutions, and share what’s working across our region. Most importantly, we’ll focus on how we move from good housing policy to actually getting homes built. We’re excited to keep the conversation going and move housing forward in meaningful, collaborative ways across Colorado.

How do we move from talking about housing to actually getting it built?
Join Civic Results and Common Sense Institute on September 23 for the Starter Home Initiative: Exploring Solutions for Colorado’s Multi-Family Housing Supply. This interactive morning will bring together local government leaders, planners, builders, housing experts and partners to explore what it really takes to create more attainable starter homes in Colorado.
We’ll hear directly from a builder, planner and mayor about what each needs from the others, dig into CSI’s latest research on the cost of homebuilding, and introduce new multi-family model codes focused on duplexes, triplexes and quadplexes. We’ll wrap up with an interactive roundtable where participants can work through real-world challenges and identify practical solutions communities can put to work.
Housing is a team sport—and this conversation is about getting everyone on the field and working together.
Session 2: Future Housing Coalition: Moving From Ideas to Implementation

On November 12, Civic Results will bring together local leaders, planners, housing partners and industry experts for the next phase of our Future Housing Coalition work.
During this interactive session, we’ll roll out the first three phases of the Future Housing Coalition toolkit, focused on giving communities practical tools to help turn housing policy into actual homes. We’ll dig into what communities can do, where the barriers remain, and how local government and the housing industry can work together to make housing easier—and more economically feasible—to build.
Most importantly, this won’t just be a presentation. We want participants at the table, sharing what is working, identifying challenges and helping us continue to shape tools that communities can actually use.
Because solving Colorado’s housing challenges will take more than one policy, one organization or one level of government. It will take all of us.
Session 3: CHFA 101: Understanding the Tools Behind Housing

On December 10, we’ll continue our housing series with a workshop featuring the Colorado Housing and Finance Authority (CHFA) and an opportunity to dig into CHFA 101.
For local leaders, understanding the financing side of housing can be one of the most complicated pieces of the puzzle. This session will break it down—helping participants better understand what CHFA does, the financing tools and resources available, and how communities can work with CHFA to help move housing projects forward.
The workshop will also create plenty of space for questions and conversation, connecting the dots between local housing priorities, development realities and the financing needed to help Coloradans buy a home and developers build housing that’s affordable for a wide-variety of needs.
Whether you already work closely with CHFA or still wonder exactly what all those housing finance acronyms mean, this one is for you!
